A New Society

Welcome

I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the 7th International Symposium In Vivo Body Composition Studies (BC2005).

The meeting will take place in Southampton, UK, on 7-9th September 2005, under the auspices of the Institute of Human Nutrition at the University of Southampton.  The closing date for abstract submission is 1st June 2005.

Registration for the Symposium should take place before 10th August. After this date it may not be possible to arrange university accommodation and guarantee your participation at the social events.

With its theme, linking structure to function, BC2005 will explore the exciting emerging concept that body composition is programmed early in life and contributes to health and disease. Within this context, the clinical impact of fat distribution both in and between body segments and tissues will be examined. Effects of ethnicity, age, and physical activity on fat mass and its distribution will be highlighted in order to answer key scientific and public health questions.  The development, application and choice of body composition techniques to answer these questions will also be highlighted. The meeting will offer a great opportunity to share experiences, network, and refresh old friendships.

Join us, and be part of this unique event.

 Prof. Marinos Elia

 Chair, BC2005 & International Committee
